Last Price Update March 2025 : I have been collecting Wisdens for a while now and in 2005 set up this Website to pass on my Wisden experiences, this site was the first ever created on the internet to explain about Wisdens to the masses and it is regularly updated with valuable statistics to help every Wisden collector when needed, to enhance their set. This site includes a popular discussion forum (wisdenclub.com) which has kept me entertained since '05. Over time we were offered Wisdens from members and also people asked if we had any spares to fill gaps in their sets. This led to our online Wisden Catalogue and this evolved into our sister site wisdenauction.com (see 2013 Wisden, pages 50/51), we improved the look and feel of this site in August 2013 and have updated it year on year, Happy Collecting, Chris Ridler, Wisden Collector.

I am currently reading my set and pop notes into the www.wisdenauction.com newsletter, here is a snippet of the write up from 1874 : Since last week where we had the statement "The most intriguing section is about a Winter Cup that the MCC were going to use to promote County Cricket, " the FA Cup has been played and it said that this started in 1872 so is this the MCCs FA Cup. It didn't take off as well as the football one! Game 6 has the first write up over a paragraph, vs Surrey May 19/20, the game only lasted from 12.20 on day 1 until 1:05 on day 2, Surrey 17-4 (62 a.o.) vs MCC 18-4 (51 a.o.) , Street‚¬„¢s bowling for Surrey was so ‚¬Å“unhitably true‚¬ he had 5-3 off 15 overs. Boult caught WGs skyer well with the sun in his eyes, but Surrey faltered to 90 all out setting MCC 102 to win but Mr Street wasn‚¬„¢t up to it second time around as MCC 102-2 won by 8 wickets, ID Walker 40 not out, Rylott for the MCC 25-6 & 23-7. The MCC then beat Cambridge Uni by 53 runs , Young for the Uni took 24-5 & 63-5, Rylott, on fire in ‚¬„¢73, 50-4 & 30-9! C.I. Thornton out on 99 for the MCC. Vs Yorkshire, the MCC ran riot and bowled them out (twice) in 94 overs, Rylott getting another 9 with the MCC winning by an innings. Woottons Match, The North vs The South on June 2/3 , Whit Monday , the lucrative day of the calendar but everyone was happy for Wootton to take the receipts in his benefit game for his 12 years excellent service and Bowling for the MCC , although wet over 10,000 watched so that must have been a few $s for the MCC Bowler. The North started badly but the tailed wagged to 147, in contrast the South went off like lightening ,12-0 off 1 over, 22-0 off2 and 50 off 13 in just 29 minutes the Mcintyre got into them and took 8 wickets, they were all out for 98, Jupp Opening scored 50 (not out), his partner 37 and the 8 of the others just 8 runs (3 extras) , McIntyre 18-8 but even with 98 ‚¬Å“Bravo Jupp‚¬ rang around the ground. (A first innings Moiety???) McIntyre then hit 77! Top scorer in the 193, the south only made 158 and so lost by 84 runs. : Please contact us for the full write up.
My 1874 Wisden, as pictured, is a paperback which has a large amount of tape to the cover and spine , it is not in the best shape and the rear cover is missing, purchased in 2013 as part of a long run so purchase price unknown, valued at circa £3000(?)
